Garrett Sohn, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon with a focus on sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. He treats athletes and active people with injuries affecting the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle, and performs reconstructive procedures to help patients return to the activities they enjoy. His practice also includes joint replacement and fracture care.

A Central Texas native, Dr. Sohn grew up playing football, soccer and running track at New Braunfels High School. He earned a full-tuition Chancellor’s Scholarship to Texas Christian University, where he graduated summa cum laude with a degree in biochemistry.

Dr. Sohn earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Hospital in Dallas. During his final year, he served as administrative chief resident, and also spent time at Auckland City Hospital in New Zealand.

He completed a fellowship in sports medicine and reconstructive surgery at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute in Van Nuys, California. There, he trained with Drs. Steve Snyder, Richard Ferkel, and Mark Getelman. In Los Angeles, he also helped care for the Los Angeles Chargers and athletes from area high schools and colleges.

Now based in San Antonio, Dr. Sohn enjoys spending time with his family, hiking the Hill Country, eating barbecue, hunting, fishing, and cheering on the Spurs.
