David Schmidt, M.D.
Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon
Head Team Physician for the San Antonio Spurs since 1993.
Dr. Schmidt, was born and raised on a ranch outside of Fredericksburg, Texas. His family was one of the founding ranching families in Fredericksburg and he still continues ranching in the area to this day. He attended Fredericksburg High School, the University of Texas for undergrad and was accepted into the University of Texas Medical School early. After completing his residency in San Antonio, he continued with Specialty Knee training in Australia and Aukland, New Zealand.
Dr. Schmidt is the proud father of daughter Casey, and his late son, a Marine Scout Sniper, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2011.

2006 - Appointed by Governor Rick Perry to the advisory board for Athletic Trainers that has subsequently been taken over by TDLR, but I am still on the advisory board
2007 - Dr. Ernst Jokl Sports Medicine award from the United States Sports Academy
March 2019 - Inducted into the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame
