MARCH IS NATIONAL ATHLETIC TRAINING MONTH & WE'RE HERE TO CELEBRATE THE AT’S

In acknowledgment of National Athletic Trainers Month, Sports Medicine Associates of San Antonio would like to commend Certified Athletic Trainers locally and nationally for their contributions and tireless efforts in the advancement of Sports Medicine.

From Dr. Paul Saenz:

“The Certified Athletic Trainer is the hub of the wheel on the sports medicine team and plays an invaluable role in maintaining the athletes’ health and safety on a daily basis. They serve as the eyes and ears of the team physician and quite frankly we couldn’t do our jobs without them.”

Just a few of many reasons why AT’s are essential to health care.

  1. ATs promote healthy lifestyle behavior through education and communication to enhance wellness and minimize the risk of injury and illness.

  2. ATs implement systematic, evidence-based examination and assessment to formulate valid clinical diagnosis and determine patients’ plan of care.

  3. ATs integrated best practice in immediate and emergency care for optimal outcomes.

  4. ATs rehabilitate injuries, illnesses, and general medical conditions with the goal of achieving optimal activity level using the applications of therapeutic exercise, modality devices, and manual techniques.

  5. ATs integrate best practices in policy construction and implementation, documentation, and basic business practices to promote optimal patient care and employee well-being.
