ABOUT

Dr. Swearingen, a native of San Antonio, is double board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Interventional Pain Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Texas A&M College of Medicine, then trained for two years as a general surgery resident under the tutelage of Dr. Red Duke, honing his operative skills. He completed his PM&R residency at Baylor College of Medicine, which was ranked the third-best program in the country. While there, he was chosen as the Administrative Chief Resident. He then returned home to San Antonio to complete his Pain Medicine fellowship.

Dr. Swearingen is a skilled Pain Medicine specialist who takes a team approach to care, working collaboratively with patients to determine the most effective treatments and therapies for optimal, long-term results. By combining compassion, an approachable personality, and a desire to form open, trusting relationships, he fosters a calm office environment where everyone feels at ease.

Dr. Swearingen prioritizes patient education while offering the most current information about treatment options. He believes that anyone living with pain, whether acute or chronic, deserves to be heard, to undergo a thorough medical evaluation, and to have a custom-tailored treatment plan that meets their unique needs.

Outside of the office, Dr. Swearingen enjoys traveling, watching and participating in various sports, and spending time with his wife and four children. He is involved with several community service organizations and enjoys working as a medical volunteer at athletic events such as endurance races, marathons, and triathlons.
